If you want the real deal, you'll want a bar with at height channels at the very least, recognized by the extra "2" or "4" in the bar's stated channel configuration. ![]() If your soundbar only offers, say, a 2.1 or 3.1 configuration, you can still watch movies and TV shows that support Dolby Atmos, but your soundbar will either be utilizing a more basic format, or will try to "virtualize" the Dolby Atmos experience using digital signal processing. ![]() It's also important to note that you can still send Dolby Atmos to sound systems that don't have height channels-you just won't be getting the real deal.
